About us

The Business Accelerator Programme Southeast Asia (BAPSEA) is designed to support small and medium-sized (SME) Swedish enterprises with innovative cleantech solutions and products within energy. The programme is launched and led by the Swedish Energy Agency and counts with the support of its partner Business Sweden who provides local market expertise in the region.

BAPSEA offers the Swedish companies a comprehensive one-year coaching program focusing on key success factors in one of the following Southeast Asian markets: the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam. The companies receive personalized advice to optimize their market entry strategy and offering and a tailor-made B2B meetings, providing valuable networking opportunities with potential customers, partners and local decision-makers. In addition to the individual meeting agendas, the participating companies also make a joint delegation trip to explore the region and forge new business connections.

Southeast Asia is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change and it is facing increasingly intense and unpredictable weather events causing heat waves, floods and droughts, alongside rising sea levels. The aim of BAPSEA is to help the countries in the region to mitigate change risks, build resilience and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions – currently increasing at a steady pace. Today, facilities burning fossil fuel represent around 75 percent of Southeast Asia’s electricity supply, with coal standing for over 50 percent of the total.

As the Southeast Asia region is in an ever-growing need of sustainable and innovative solutions across a wide range of fields related to energy production, distribution and consumption there are vast opportunities to harness for Swedish companies looking to expand their business.

For almost 10 years, the Swedish Energy Agency ran the Business Accelerator Program Indonesia (BAPI) and with the launch of the Business Accelerator Program Southeast Asia (BAPSEA) this successful initiative is now extended to encompass another five fast-growing countries in the region.
