First batch BAPSEA-companies participate in high-level forum Indo-Pacific Business Summit in Singapore
Eleven companies within the Swedish Energy Agency’s new programme ‘Business Accelerator Programme Southeast Asia’ (BAPSEA)got the opportunity to attend the Indo-Pacific Business Summit in Singapore and further broaden their insights and contacts. These were part of a large high-level Swedish industry delegation to Singapore led by Minister for International Development Cooperation and International Trade Mr Johan Forsell. Participating BAPSEA-companies were: Affectus, Cetasol, CoolSaver, KATAM, Primozone Productions, SeaTwirl, Unipower.
In addition to a very relevant network, the summit saw panel discussions and breakout sessions on topics such as sustainable cities, digitalisation, and public-private partnerships. The BAPSEA companies also participated in a site visit to Tuas Port, which is being transformed into a green and smart port node by investing billions in sustainability and digitalisation.
Singapore is considered the economic heart of the region, yet the small nation is very vulnerable to impacts brought on by climate change and is dependable on its neighbours for energy supply, which is primarily fossil. The latest being a real bottleneck for Singapore’s decarbonization. There are discussions underway to build out a so-called ‘ASEAN Power Grid’ connecting Singapore with new built green projects in neighbouring markets. As this progresses, there could be relevant opportunities for Swedish companies.
